Facebook Fanpages: How to Create a Customized Fanpage in Minutes

1. Interact with your fans: You can use fan pages to create a forums where people can congregate and ask you questions, provide feedback and even interact with themselves. Since fan pages do not have the limitation of 5000 friends like facebook profile you can have an unlimited number of people in your fan pages.
2. Automatic Content Submission: You can integrate this fan page with the RSS feed on your website and ensure that it has a steady stream of content. You simply set your blog feed to automatically post to your fan page.
3. It shows up in Google: Facebook Pages are indexed in search engines, thus increasing the likelihood of people finding you when they do a Google search. In fact one of my fan pages is on the first page of google for a very competitive keyword. Now that’s powerful because with a well-customized fan page, you can generate leads from there.
4. Analyzes Visitors Stats: Because fan pages capture the data of the fan page visitors, you can track how many visitors you have and how much they participate in discussions and wall postings.
5. Announce Events: If you are having a free give-away or are going to review a new product, then you can announce that event on your fan page and create anticipation for it.
6. Helps with Alexa Ranking: Let me explain this. Have a minimum of 25 fans and you have the right to have a url for your fan page. Example of the one I created before I wrote this post is http://www.facebook.com/HomeBasedBusinessCoaching. Immediately I had 25 fans I was able to have this url link and I simple using Pretty links, I made it http://tosinmlmexpert.com/fanpage. That is what I will be promoting. I wont be getting into any detail about it here, but know that using my site name (http://tosinmlmexpert.com/fanpage) instead of the normal facebook link (http://www.facebook.com/HomeBasedBusinessCoaching) helps in your alexa ranking efforts.
7. Generate Leads for Business: You can provide something valuable in your fan page for a simple name, email and even phone number. It’s your call.
8. Create Events: You can create events to let everyone know about something important that is coming up.
9. Easily Customizable: Before now it was difficult to create a beautifully customized fanpage that is to your taste without outsourcing it to the technical geeks. I will be explaining it shortly.

I have just liked your page and noticed you have a blank page and then upon like I am redirected to the offer (which I cannot see because it is asking me to switch to a regular connection of http?) wierd.
Do they show you how to set specific tabs and redirect like that?
The reason I ask is because I tried for ages last week to get an FBML page I built as the tab for new visitors to see but this option is no longer available. ??!

Let’s solve the issue of directing your visitors to your ‘offer’ page instead of the wall.
Step 1: Go to your fan page.
Step 2: Click ‘Edit Page’ at the top right of your fan page. It should land you on the ‘Manage permission’ tab. If not just click ‘manage permission’ tab on the left hand corner of the page.
Step 3: Counting from top to bottom of the page you will see ‘Default Landing Tab’ on the 5th. It has been automatically set to ‘Wall’, click the dropdown and choose the customize page you want.
Step 4: Save changes and you are good to go.

Since I’m all in favour of blog exposure and promotion, the facebook comment box helps me in that when anyone comments through the facebook comment box, it automatically shows up on their facebook profile and their friends can see it and if they want they can come visit my site. It counts as a ‘share’.
The commentluv comment box is an incentive to get my readers to share their thoughts with me by offering them a backlink from my site for every comment they share. And because I have a relatively good alexa ranking it is huge for them. It also pulls out their last post so other people who come to my site can see what they’ve got.

The benefits are numerous. Use a Fan Page to build up your brand and spread awareness about what you can offer. And do it in a snazzy manner too
Monitoring stats helps in the metrics department. See what works, what doesn’t, and do more of what works. Sounds simple but few follow or use metrics.

Tosin, mate thanks so much for the detailed and quick reply.
This is the problem I encountered previously and I thought it was a global facebook change that stopped you being able to direct visitors to a specific page.
In a nutshell I do not have the option you mention. I have seen the ‘Default Landing Tab’ option in the screen shots I was using when I tried last week but this option is no longer available.
Can you check and see if you have this option still?
Seems like there is no work around for this problem, let me know if you know of any tricks.

I just checked again and could see the option. I changed it back to my wall, and changed it back again and it worked. Did you follow my instruction step-by-step? It should work. :^)
My concern is how a blank page is seen by my visitors upon arrival on my fanpage.

Having a fanpage is great…. provided that you actually have fans. I’ve a friend with 63 likes for 4 months now, after pleading with folks to “like” him. Sounds a bit phony to go about like that, doesn’t it?

Maintaining a Facebook fan page is a good strategy to every business only if the creator will commit himself/herself in updating this fanpage. Remember that the reason why people are joining a fanpage because they want to be updated.
