How to Take Advantage of national crisis for MLM

At the moment this is massive protest in my country, Nigeria, over the sudden removal of fuel subsidy, which led to more than 150% increase in the prices of Petrol. And because it is such a big factor in determining prices of goods and services in the nation, prices of almost everything things have hiked up.

For the past five days, the economic activity of the nation has been brought to its knees due to the Strike Action embarked upon by the Labour Unions. There is massive faceoff between two sides: Government on one side and the Labour Unions/Civil Societies/Majority of the citizens. And at the moment negotiations has reached a deadlock.

Since the 1st of January when the pronouncement was made, you could see massive comments on the internet, especially on the social media sites. And the negativity is increasing as the days go by.

It has gotten worse upon the discovery of the various atrocities of the office holders who are calling on the populace to make sacrifices when their actions are on the contrary.

 

What Side Should the MLM professional be?

An avid follower of the events going on around the world will reveal that the seeming injustice to citizens is not exclusive to a singular country. It is going on all around the world as evidenced in the recent ‘Occupy’ activities we all witnessed worldwide.

So which side should the MLM professional be on? Well, ever since I read ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki, I have learnt to take responsibility for my financial condition. I have learnt to realize that leaving your financial destiny in the hands of your parents, children, boss and government is a recipe for disaster.

What am I saying in essence? You need to create your own economy. It is saddening when you see people blaming their conditions on the state of the nation. It’s not supposed to be. There are people living in developing economy living the internet lifestyle. Some people are not affected by the economy. In fact, true entrepreneurs increase their fortune during such crisis like this.

 

How the MLM Professional Can Take Advantage of the Situation

Know this: This is the time that you should use to grow your business massively.

People now realize that they need to generate more income and are more open to see changes in their lives. And it’s not rocket-science: If I need to buy a commodity at two to three times the price and my salary is not increasing, then I should be looking for alternative means of generating income.

So here are the ways you can use this time to better your time at this time in the history of the nation:

  • Shield Yourself from Negativity

Go on the social media and you see a lot of anger at the leadership in the government. They have continued to pollute the atmosphere both online and offline and are quick to vent their frustration on the social media sites.

You need to keep yourself. Your mind is precious and you cannot afford to have polluted with negativity.

  •        Read Books and Work on Yourself

There is no bigger opportunity to develop yourself than at this point. There is no job to go to therefore you have all the time in the world for yourself. Get hold of books and resources that would help your mindset, improve your lead generation skills, improve your prospecting/sponsoring skills, etc.

I love what Jim Rohn said about working more on yourself than your business. This is the time to do so.

Books like Magnetic Sponsoring by Mike Dillard, Your First Year in Network Marketing, Compound Effect by Darren Hardy etc.are a good place to start.

  •      Write Posts and Materials for Your Business

This is no time excuse for the part time marketer at this time. This is the time to work hard at writing articles, shooting videos, attending webinars and generally setting things up that would move your business forward.

 

  •      Familiarize Yourself with Your Neighbours and Fellow Protesters

Now that you stuck with your neighbours, friends and family for days unend, then it’s time to try out those prospecting skills you have gathered in all the videos and webinars you have watched. You have been complaining that you can find people to speak with but no longer. If not for anything go to the protesting centres and speak with them.

Get as many NOs as you can and you will definitely get yes. I saw as much as a million people gathering at the protesting park in Lagos on TV and no networker in Lagos should ask me where to get people to speak to.

So there you have it. Don’t waste this period. Entrepreneurs are opportunist by nature. They see situations that others see as hopeless and turn them around for themselves. I hope you use this period for that. People’s minds are so open and receptive at this period and do it well and you will be grateful you did.
